Welttournee verschoben
Las Vegas – Am 8. Dezember, dem Geburtstag von Gründungsmitglied
Jim Morrison, wollten The Doors in neuer Besetzung ihre Welttournee
in Las Vegas beginnen. Als Verstärkung holten sie sich Ex-Cult-Sänger
Ian Astbury und den Schlagzeuger Stewart Copeland, ehemaliges Mitglied
von The Police. Dieser brach sich letzte Woche jedoch bei einem
Radunfall den Arm und fällt dadurch für eine Weile aus.
Copeland war erst kürzlich als neuestes Mitglied für diese
Reunion-Tour ausgewählt worden, bei der er den Doors-Drummer
John Densmore ersetzten sollte, der aus gesundheitlichen Gründen
nicht mittouren konnte. Neuer Termin für das Konzert in Las
Vegas ist der 19. Januar 2003. Nach der Tour in den USA wollen The
21st Century Doors, wie sie sich nun bezeichnen, auch nach Europa
kommen, wo Auftritte auf allen großen Festivals geplant sind.
Im Herbst 2003 schließlich soll ein Studioalbum heraus kommen.

Stewart Copeland's Injury Puts The Doors On

Stewart Copeland suffered a broken arm over the Thanksgiving holiday,
forcing re-formed rockers The Doors to postpone a planned December
8 concert in Las Vegas.
The concert at The Palms in Las Vegas has been
pushed back more than a month, to January 19. Those holding tickets
for the December 8 show can use them for admission to the January
19 show, or can obtain a refund at their point of purchase.
Copeland, formerly of The Police, fell while bicycle
riding on a path near his Los Angeles home, according to The Doors'
publicist. He is expected to recover in time to join the band for
the rescheduled performance.

Upon
his return to southern California, while avoiding a 3-year old child
on the Venice to Santa Monica bikepath, Stewart fell hard from his
bicycle, and lightly fractured his left arm. Loyal (New) Doors members
Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and Ian Astbury immediately rallied
around and the next two Doors shows have been re-scheduled for late
January 2003, when his arm should be healed. After an initial diagnosis
that he would have to wear a cast from elbow to wrist, the orthopaedist
decided that it would be better for Stewart's arm to move around,
so he is now encouraged to keep it (gently) active, and to avoid
children on tricycles at all cost.
