The Doors Are Open Again
The
surviving members of The Doors have announced plans for a reunion
tour in 2001, after the band reformed for a TV special in LA on
Tuesday. Ray Manzarek, John Densmore and Robby Krieger, the three
remaining members of the seminal west coast 60s rockers, appeared
with a number of guest vocalists for the recording. The show marked
the band's first live performance obviously minus Jim Morrison
who died in 1971 since they were inducted into the Rock And Roll
Hall Of Fame in 1993. Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots, Perry
Farrell of Jane's Addiction, The Cult's Ian Astbury and Scott Stapp
of Creed all stood in for Morrison, and the results will be aired
in the USA in November, at the same time as the release of a tribute
album, STONED IMMACULATE.
Doors manager Danny Sugarman confirmed that the
band are planning to play a handful of live dates in 2001 in Europe
and the USA, although it is unclear who will replace Morrison. (www.dotmusic.com)
