Die
Doors-Tribute-CD STONED IMMACULATE – THE MUSIC OF THE DOORS, die
von Musikern der Bands Stone Temple Pilots, Creed, Smash Mouth,
Days Of The New, Aerosmith, The Cult, Oleander sowie Perry Farrell,
Exene, Bo Diddley und John Lee Hooker unter Mitwirkung von Robby
Krieger, Ray Manzarek und John Densmore eingespielt wurde, enthält
auch vier Songs, die von den Doors neu aufgenommen und mit teils
veröffentlichten, teils aber auch unveröffentlichten Doors-Aufnahmen
mit Jim Morrison zusammengemischt worden sind. The Cosmic Movie,
das musikalisch weitgehend auf dem Song Five To One basiert,
ist zwar relativ witzlos, das auf der Schlußpassage des Songs
The Soft Parade basierende Under Waterfall (eigentlich
'Underwaterfall') wäre jedoch hitverdächtig. Ein weiterer
Höhepunkt ist die Neuaufnahme des Roadhouse Blues der
Doors mit John Lee Hooker als Sänger, unterstützt von
einem Sampling verschiedener Gesangsaufnahmen von Jim Morrison.
Aber natürlich ist wieder einmal niemandem eingefallen, anstatt
der völlig uninteressanten Riders On The Storm 2000
Remixe diese Aufnahmen zumindest als Promotion-Single zu veröffentlichen.
Eine Chance also für alle Radio-DJs, diese Songs zu entdecken.

Review
While
this Doors tribute album features the band’s surviving members
on all but one track, the question it brings up is not, 'Can
it be considered a tribute album if the band being honored
plays on it?' Rather, this album will leave you wondering
why they let such bands as Creed, Days Of The New and Smash
Mouth join in, if all they were going to add were bad Jim
Morrison impressions. Not that the entire album is a loss;
guitarist Robby Krieger and keyboardist Ray Manzarek get funky
with Aerosmith on Love Me Two Times, Manzarek joins
The Cult for a rousing rendition of Wild Child, and
the whole band backs Bo Diddley for a bluesy take on Love
Her Madly. Best of all, the recording of William S. Burroughs
and the band doing Is Everybody In? is like hearing
