(HG)

Bright Midnight Records Slates Release Dates For Fall 2000

Bright Midnight Records, a label formed by The Doors Music Company, intends to make available from The Doors' archives almost thirty hours of mostly live, unreleased material as well as some rare studio-recorded gems.
In all, The Doors recorded approximately fourteen concerts in nine cities, with some of these songs already having been released in 1970 on ABSOLUTELY LIVE. Aim with Bright Midnight Records is to make available all of these concerts, over thirty hours of live Doors music, 90 percent of which has never been heard before. The new releases will be presented in their entirety and unedited, culled primarily from the tour that was recorded to produce ABSOLUTELY LIVE. The Doors also have procured a half-dozen additional high quality concert tapes recorded directly from the sound board to be made available on Bright Midnight Records. The primary goal is to release the best sounding recording and the highest quality artwork at the lowest possible price. The releases are neither individually numbered nor limited editions. Bright Midnight Records will release three titles every six months for six years. The first three releases slated for October 31, 2000 are: – THE BRIGHT MIDNIGHT SAMPLER – 14 SONGS / 8 CONCERTS: This 13-track 14-song collection of audio delights from The Doors' archive presents previously unreleased performances from 8 venues on the 1969 and 1970 United States tours. It is both a stunning listen from beginning to end as well as a wonderful invitation to the Bright Midnight Records releases to come. – THE DOORS LIVE IN DETROIT: A double CD capturing The Doors in a mesmerizing performance lasting over two-hours before a packed house at Detroit's Cobo Hall. – NO ONE HERE GETS OUT ALIVE: In this first in-depth radio production recorded after Morrison's passing, Ray, Robby and John talked for the first time about Jim's death as well as the triumph and tragedy the band experienced. The interviews were conducted by Jim Ladd, long-time Doors aficionado and L.A.'s top-rated Rock D.J. for three decades. Originally only 135 copies were produced for radio stations around the country to air in the summer of 1979. Today on the black market third generation copies of this four-album vinyl set sell for $500. The Doors discovered one pristine, never-before-played copy which Bruce Botnick digitized and burned onto CD. It is a fascinating, galvanizing story of The Doors' history and mystery, including interviews and music as well as some unreleased gems. The show has come to be known as "No One Here Gets Out Alive" as its airing coincided with the book's release. (www.thedoors.com)
